Learn a fun scrapbooking technique for creating funky 3-D photographs.

Host Scott Petti shares his technique for making funky 3-D photographs. It doesn’t require a special camera for funny looking 3-D glasses and is the perfect way to document your vacation! Scrap’s host simply takes a photo with good natural depth and uses multiple copies and basic scrapbook tools to turn it into a great 3-D vacation memory.

3-D Vacation Memory
Materials:
several copies of picture
small scissors or craft knife
paper trimmer
glue
tweezers
foam core
cardstock, matte board
Choose a picture with depth, interesting background, and/or several people in the photo. Decide how many layers you want—you will need at least three layers from background (figure A) to foreground for a 3-D effect.
Cut pictures for each layer—small scissors or a craft knife makes this much easier, especially when cutting around tiny objects.
Put a small amount of glue in each corner of the base picture and press it in place on a piece of foam core.
Glue cardstock on the back of the first raised element, for just a slight amount of height.
Position this layer directly over the base picture, matching images.
Repeat for remaining layers adding thicker and thicker cardstock, matte board, or foam core to increase height (figure B).
When layering, build from the background to the foreground:
First layer—entire picture.
Second layer—entire picture except for the furthest objects/people.
Third layer—next closer objects/people.
And so on, the last layer will be objects/people or object/person in the foreground.
