Do you ever do non traditional scrapbooking?
Like yesterday, I made my daughter’s first Christmas pages and the first one was purple paisley with dark blue and white dots for matts and some borders. I just didn’t want to use the Christmas paper, I was drawn to a mix matched weird kind of layout. That happens a lot to me. Sometimes my husband looks confused. lol Does it really matter if you use odd colors really mix matched paper? I think if it looks good to me, I like it and I’m doing it. Scrapbooking is art and art has no rules.
Actually, scrapbooking has taken on such a new form this past decade or so. Back when I was a kid, scrapbooking was putting together any and everything (just like you said, odd colors, etc) It was like a collage, just to have fun! It has become so mechanical now and lost its raw touch.
So actually, I’d differ with you and say the newer stuff is non-traditional, and if you really look at scrapbooking from the past, say 20 years ago, then the TRADITIONAL manner is really letting loose and using a mix of everything, whatever excited you.
