please answer this! [scrapbooking question..!] ?
this is the first time of made a scrapbook and im 13 years old and i want to make it really cool !
all the items i know that i need to get so far is:
and this scrapbook is just going to be about me and friends, family, holidays, beach that sorta thing but what kind of things should i put in it though and tips or ideas please?!
I’ve been scrapbooking off and on for over 10 years.
Typical scrapbook album sizes are 12 X 12, 8 X 8, 81/2 X 11, sometimes you can find 6 X 6.
You need to decide what size album you want. Both Michael’s and Walmart have albums that are not very expensive. They both also sell page refills so you can make your album larger if you want.
If this is an album that you want to treasure for years to come make sure you purchase an adhesive that is archival quality. I one recommend one that you can easily find refills for.
You’ll need card stock. The albums I was referring to are typically drop in page type which requires the use of card stock to create the page.
Photos look best when they’re “matted” that means placed on a piece of card stock which is 1/8 inch up to 1/2 inch larger than your photo then placed on the page.
You can use stickers, or rubber stamped images to decorate your pages or decorative paper. It’s all up to you.
A great web site to go to for inspiration is the link below. Click on gallery near the top right hand side of the home page. Once in the gallery I believe there’s one just for scrapbooking, click on it and there you are with inspiration at your fingertips.
It’s free to subscribe to the web site, I get their newsletter every week in my yahoo mail box. Every week they have a scrapbooking page challenge. If you want to see the past scrapbook page lay outs you can click on forums near the top right side of the web page and you’ll find it there by digging around.
Another resource for further inspiration is to go to your local library. They likely have books about scrapbooking which may have page lay outs that inspire you or even scrapbooking magazines that you can check out for inspiration.
An album, adhesive, card stock, a good pair of scissors and/or a paper cutter that can cut a 12 X 12 piece of paper are just the beginning.
There are all kinds of different tools out there which can be acquired over time. If you become addicted like I have keep an eye out for the Michael’s store ads because they always have items on sale and usually include a 40% or 50% off one item coupon. That’s when you want to pick up those pricey items such as an expensive album or expensive tools.
I have over the last year expanded into using punches more and doing more with decorative papers.
