Scrapbooking – What is distressing & how do you do it?
distressing is when you do something to make an item look older or worn. examples would be:
sanding with fine grit sandpaper
inking with an ink pad
crumpling or ripping paper
fraying the ends of ribbon
using crackle medium before painting
rubbing fine steel wool over a photo
you can even combine techniques to get different looks. like wad up a piece of paper then sand or ink some edges. ink some paper with different colors dye based inks and then mist with water to blend. it’s a lot of fun!
