mothers day scrapbooking…help?
hey, im making this scrapbooking mini book thing for my mum. its 5 by 5 inches and its kind of a pretty pink theme. ive only just started to do scrapbooking and crafty kind of things ( im only 15) and im a bit stuck of what to do next. inside my book i have stuck pretty pieces of paper and pictures inside. i saw on this website how to make the book and inside thee were all these different pop up things inside the book and it looked really good. im not sure really how to do popups etc. so if anyone does and could explain it to me or if anyone just has any ideas of something different and unsual that i could include that would be great! thanks so much!

Your idea is really neat, but your time is limited so let me give you some links to websites, and remind you to keep it small and not overly complex. Too busy isn’t better.

I did a momento box that was popular at that time, which is a frame with compartments and is about 2″ deep and I put little momentoes into it so it was 3 dimensional.
You can do a cutout of your mom from one photo and put a strip or two of paper that’s folded in a “Z” and overlay it over another photo of something she loves, or next to some nice momento that means a lot to her.
Like, for my dad who worked in NYC I put a subway token and a train ticket (which could fit in a book as well as in the shadow box)
You can get something similar to moleskin which is adhesive on one side and glue a piece to the underside of some cutout that you want to stand out a bit. It doesn’t really POP UP, but it stands out as 3-dimensional.
I sure hope this helps. I love crafts and have done a lot of them, so while I haven’t done a scrapbook WITH popups, I can figure out some things that give you a bit of that effect.
If she loves flowers, you might be able to include some silk flowers, but keep them thin as they can be too bulky.
