What is the best way to organize scrapbooking things , not spending money using what you have?
I am talking about paper, pics, momentous, scissors glue stickers . Should i go by type or holiday or what i have so much that i have not done 1 complete page very sad scrapper.
Gets to be quite a big mess in a short hurry, doesn’t it?
I’m not even a scrapbooker, but I’m ADDICTED to cool paper and all the other fun papercrafting stuff … I really love decoupage.
My best advice is to keep all like items together … all paper together, all punches, all scissors, etc.
If you can POSSIBLY dedicate an area just for scrapcrafting (where you can leave things in progress and they won’t be disturbed), that would be ideal. If you’re like most of us and have to clean it all up and store it (to keep the kids and dogs out of it, like me!), at least try to have a small area (a drawer, a closet shelf perhaps?) where you can stuff it.
You said you didn’t want to buy anything to get organized but I will tell you … I bought one of those 12×12 clear plastic paper storage boxes and it was only $5 … well worth the cost. Clear containers of any kind are best because you can see what’s in them … be creative … empty food jars? Just wash out a mayo jar and stash your markers, etc. Do the same with your other supplies.
Also, clear plastic zip-storage bags are great for items like photos and other “small bits” … again, you can see what’s there but they take up little space.
Try to find a few hours (difficult, I KNOW!) to bring out ALL your supplies and sort through them … lay everything out on a large flat surface (table? bed?) and THEN, store each type of supply (you can subdivide, if you wish … holiday, etc.) OR … if you see some items that will work together to make a nice page (photos, punches, paper, etc.) put all of THOSE items together in one bag so next time you’re feeling crafty, just reach for that bag and you’ve got (almost!) everything you’ll need to complete a page. (We always forget something, right?)
A last suggestion … take a scrapbooking class at a local craft store … and ask the instructor for ideas about how to sort and store all your scrap stuff.
