Digital Scrapbooking?
I want to start doing digital scrapbooking on my own. My question is: Is a MAC or Dell PC better??
Not sure what software I plan to use?
Neither one is better than the other. Both can be used to create fabulous digital scrapbook pages.
The easiest way to get started making digital scrapbook pages is to use CropMom at http://www.cropmom.com. CropMom is an online scrapbook Web site where you can upload your photos and use their designer graphics to create beautiful layouts. You can choose from the standard set of canvas sizes. You can add your own text. You can change photos from black and white to sepia tone. You can rotate photos, add shadows, resize them.
Best of all, CropMom is free to use. There’s no software to buy. No digital scrapbook kits to buy. Just register and start making a layout.
You can download the low-resolution, screen quality JPEG file of your layout for free for use on the Web or for e-mailing to friends.
If you want to print your layout, as most digital scrapbookers do, you can purchase the high-resolution, print-quality JPEG for a small fee then print at home or have the layout printed at a photo service.
If you want more powerful software, Photoshop is available for both the Mac and the PC is probably the premier software used by digital scrapbookers. Caution: it’s expensive and hard to learn to use. Photoshop Elements is an easier-to-use rendition of Photoshop, but it’s still going to cost $50 to $100 and there still quite a bit of learning to do.
So if you want to dabble and learn how, start with CropMom before making some big expenditure. Once you’ve got the hang of it, you can always go buy the expensive software. CropMom is Flash-based, so it will work on a Mac or PC.
