I need ADVISE please!?
It is to do with making a scrapbook. i’ve haad a look through some of the other posts BUT nothing seems to give me the detail im looking for. Im totally new to the whole idea of scrapbooking and i dont know where do start and what to order. What are the basic things i need to supply myself with to be able to start creating wondeful scrapbooks? Im from the uk and i dont know if scrapbooking is as big there as it is elsewhere so im sturggling to find online stores. Do you need to use acid free paper? And do you need to use those cover protector things? Im so confused by the whole thing! Is is simpler when you get started or what?
Scrapbooking choices have become so varied that it can be a confusing world if you’re not careful.
The first thing to do is choose your scrapbook. You want to choose one that’s larger than 8 x 8 inches. There are postbound books, strap bound books, and binder-style books. Binder-style books have an advantage in that if you choose letter-sized paper, you can use document protectors from the office supply store. Just be sure to get archival quality.
When looking for paper, you need acid-free and lignin-free paper. Most paper contains acid. This will damage photos over time and cause them to fade. Most papers also contain lignin, a natural component of wood. Lignin will break down and become acidic over time. Therefore, make sure your paper is acid-free and lignin-free for longest photo life.
Proctective covers aren’t necessary, but they do keep your scrapbook items together. There are times when you’ll want them, but other times when you’d prefer not to have them at all.
The best way to learn is start small and build up. There are plenty of scrapbook ideas online. Just don’t dive in feet first until you’re over your head.
Remember: Inch by inch, it’s a cinch, yard by yard it’s hard.
